Isla Borrell

Isla Borrell is a postdoctoral researcher at Le Mans University. She completed her research-creation PhD in 2025 under the supervision of Dr. Katia Légeret at the École Doctorale Esthétique, Sciences et Technologies des Arts at Paris 8 University, in the research team Scènes du Monde. Her bilingual thesis, Théâtre des données : un nouveau genre théâtral / Data theatre: a new theatrical genre, explores the creative potential of data expressed through live performance, particularly the use of data sets and data feeds to generate scenography and music, and to mediate between human and nonhuman.

Prior to her postgraduate studies, Isla worked for several years in production design, props and set decoration for film and theatre.
