Éliane Beaufils is professor of theater and performance studies at Paris 8 University and a member of the Scènes du monde laboratory.
From 2020 to 2024, she was vice head of the EDESTA doctoral school in Aesthetics, Sciences and Technologies of the Arts. Her research focuses on the critical and relational potential of contemporary hybridized theatricality, borrowing from performance, design and dance, as well as from the sound arts. During her habilitation, she studied the combination of critical and poetic languages in contemporary theater and performance. Since then she has dedicated herself to the study of Anthropocene theatricalities in their various forms, specially plant dramaturgies, political performances and speculative gestures.
